19 March 2003: Environment Hamilton has organized an information
event with neighbourhood residents on the recent watermain breaks
on Locke Street.
The Details:
- Monday, March 24th at 7PM
- St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church
(Corner of Locke and Herkimer)
The Participants:
- Don McLean, Environment Hamilton, will provide some history
and context for the recent watermain breaks on Locke Street.
- Lou DiGironimo, Director of Water and Wastewater for the City
of Hamilton, has been invited to describe the state of the water
pipes in the Kirkendall neighbourhood (Queen to the 403 south
of Main Street) including maps showing the age of the pipes and
the City's plans for rehabilitation and replacement.
- Dermot P. Nolan, attorney, will provide information on the legal
rights of residents related to watermain breakdown and neglect.
- Cathy Erb and Linda Smith, homeowners who suffered flood damage,
and who will speak about their efforts to organize affected residents.
Mayor Wade and all members of council have been invited to attend
and answer questions from the public.
