Good Neighbours
13 May 2002: Kirkendall North Neighbourhood Watch is looking
for volunteers to work with to reactivate Neighbourhood Watch South
of Aberdeen.
The purpose of this organization is not to be a 'vigilante-group',
but primarily to organize neighbours so they better know each other
and can better spot unusual activity.
LockeStreet.com is involved with NW to try and create and facilitate
dialogue, communication and education about crime in our neighbourhood.
Hamilton Police Services divides Kirkendall into North and South
Neigbhourhoods and as such NW is divided. Currently Kirkendall South
(South of Aberdeen) is without an active NW although there are several
people who have expressed an interest in participating and helping
organize.
Richard Palmer and I have discussed the idea that Kirkendall South
and North would combine activities and meetings to 'spread the responsibilities'
and make reactivating a Kirkendall South NW easier. What is needed
is one or two residents in Kirkendall South to volunteer for a coordinator
position(s).
As we propose combined activities/meetings coordinator responsibilities
would be shared among 4-5 people.
If you are interested in a coordinator position or assisting with
NW as a block captain, you can learn more about
Neighbourhood Watch or contact KNNW at nw@lockestreet.com.
