The Locke Street Festival 2001
31 August 2001: Craig Hermanson
You were there... It was a smashing success and you wouldn't likely
miss it this year.
If you did miss the Locke Street Business Association's first annual
Street Festival last year you missed 60 Locke Street merchants and
many vendors, a charity BBQ, The Kid Zone, Mini Car Cruise, Millenium
Fashion Show, Bavarian Garden, live musical entertainment, food
vendors, balloons and face painting for the kids, a historical tour
of locke douth and so much more.
Expect all this and more. More as in more Kid Zone, more Celebrity
Charity BBQs and more Bavarian Gardens. Not to mention more family
entertainment and a street dance from 7-11 PM.

One of the reasons for last years Street Festival success was teamwork.
This festival's success wouldn't happen without the community's
support and the dedication of the volunteers and merchants. If you
hare able to volunteer this year, please contact Kathleen by
e-mail, by phone at 905-526-1030, or by dropping by Where-On-Earth
store.
One last note: Last year the Locke Street Festival was fortunate
enough to have the coauthor of "Up and Down Locke South" Bill Manson
give guided tours of the secrets he found on Locke South. This year
LockeStreet.com is fortunate to add Bill to our list of contributors
with his new column. I
hope you enjoy his story on the origin of the Locke Street name.
