Child Abuse Prevention Month

October is Child Abuse Prevention Month —
Purple Ribbon Campaign

What?

A public awareness campaign for the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Where?

In your community.

Why?

To inform the public and community professionals of the devastating effect of child abuse and neglect.

To make public and community professionals aware of the importance of early intervention and prevention of child abuse and neglect.

To inform the public and community professionals of their duty to report child abuse and neglect.

To focus on the work of children's aid societies in Ontario

To encourage individuals to support CASs and volunteer to work with a CAS

When?

October 2000

Who?

36 CASs in the province are planning to participate in the Purple Ribbon Campaign

How?

Distribution of ribbons, flyers and pamphlets

News conferences, Speaking engagements, Media interviews

   

Ribbons are available by contacting the
CCAS of Hamilton.

A small donation is suggested to go towards our
abused children in care fund.
